Dr. Mohamad Hayssam Al Fawal MD, FACS, IFASMBS, is a Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric surgery (SRC) specialized in minimally invasive, metabolic and bariatric surgery. He received his General Surgery Diploma from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. He is known to be dedicated to caring for his patients through a holistic approach to health and well-being. He has extensive experience in treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome, and he serves as President of the Pan Arab Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, he is also Program Director IBC Mini Fellowship in Bariatric and metabolic surgery , Program Director of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Fellowship at Beirut Arab University, Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Beirut Arab University, Chair of IFSOMENAC Corporate and Finance committee and Executive Board Member and Treasurer of IFSOMENAC. Dr. Fawal completed a fellowship in Hepato-Biliary and Transplant Surgery at Lille University – France, and he continued to become an International Fellow in the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and ultimately to become a Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In 2014, Dr. Hayssam Fawal is the Chair of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery unit at Makassed General Hospital “American University of Beirut affiliate” ; he preformed with his team a gastric sleeve surgery using the Paravertebral Block Anaesthesia technique with live transmission from Makassed General Hospital to IFSO2014 Congress in Montreal Canada. This was also followed by a Live transmission of the same procedure to IFSO 2017 in London. In 2016, Dr. Fawal performed the first Mini Gastric Bypass done Worldwide under PVB in 2016. Dr. Fawal has published many articles in hepatobiliary and bariatric surgery, he has more than 50 international presentations, and has been a guest speaker in more than 80 national and international meetings.
